On 04/12/2024 at about 1927 hours, Seward AST conducted a traffic stop in Seward. The investigation revealed that Cara Osenga, 32 of Seward, was driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, and without motor vehicle liability insurance. A search incident to arrest of Cara’s vehicle revealed powdered fentanyl. Cara was placed under arrest for DUI, misconduct involving controlled substances (MICS) in the 5th degree, and no insurance. Cara was transported to Wildwood Pretrial where she was remanded on the aforementioned charges.

On 4/13/24, AST received a tip that Justin R. Smith, age 41 of Trapper Creek, was on his way to a local business and had a warrant for his arrest. Justin arrived at the business and was contact by AST patrol who placed him under arrest without incident. Justin was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Theft 3. Justin was held with a $400 bail.

On 4/14/2024, at approximately 1600 hours while browsing the public active warrant list posted on the State Troopers website, AST observed that Patrick Dean, age 33 of Wasilla, had an active arrest warrant issued on 4/11/24 for the charge of vehicle theft. At the time the warrant was issued, Patrick was in custody on other charges, and already lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial. AST confirmed Patrick was still remanded there, and then filed to hold him on the new additional felony charge with a $1,500.

On 04/13/2024, at approximately 0258 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a silver sedan for a moving violation on Palmer Wasilla Highway. Investigation revealed, the driver, Deserae Guzman, age 38 of Wasilla, was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Deserae was arrested and remanded at MSPT where she was held until sober, then released on her own recognizance.

On 04/13/2024, Alaska State Troopers in Palmer conducted a traffic stop in the area of S. Big Lake Rd. and W. Hollywood Rd. Investigation revealed that Gavin Kane (age 24 of Big Lake) was driving under the influence. Gavin was arrested and transported to Palmer Pretrial, where he was remanded.

On April 12, 2024, at approximately 1626 hours, Fairbanks AST received a report of the theft of a vehicle. The vehicle is described as a 2014 silver Hyundai Sonata bearing plate KJY892. The vehicle was last seen on the night of March 27, at approximately 2030 hours in the area of Badger Road.

On April 12, 2024, at approximately 2106 hours, Fairbanks AST recognized Jeremy Towson walking on College Road. Jeremy Towson, age 50, had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for fraudulent use of an access device. Jeremy was arrested and remanded to FCC without incident.

On 04/13/2024 at 1715 hours AST received a report of a Garmin SOS activation near Mile 191 Parks Highway. A 37-year-old male from North Pole with a broken leg from a snow machine accident was evacuated by Life Med and transported to a hospital for treatment.

On 4-13-24 AST stopped a vehicle for a moving violation and found the driver to be Ashley Leffler, age 41 of Fairbanks. After investigation, Ashley was arrested for DUI and remanded to FCC without incident.

Location: North PoleType: Misconduct Involving WeaponsDispatch Text:
On 04/13/2024, Alaska State Troopers responded to North Pole regarding shots being heard. The investigation is ongoing but initial evidence suggests a vehicle stopped in front of the victim's house, fired at least three rounds, and then fled the scene. Thankfully, no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
